Student Placements - Spring 2022



RMDC will be hosting a group of students from higher education institutions / conservatoires and those training independently to take online classes with Russell; meet the staff team; and observe the company rehearsing Silent Lines in preparation for our upcoming tour. Students will also be offered some independent study tasks. 

Students may participate in some or all of the activities below, but will need to confirm which activities they would like to join us for in advance.

May 9th  - Online activities

Introduction to RMDC and the placement with RMDC Education Manager Michelle Bynoe;
Online class with Russell;
Students can stay on to ask Russell questions

May 10th  - Online activity

Meet RMDC team members on Zoom to learn about their roles, responsibilities and the running of organisation

May 11th - In person activity

Observe Silent Lines rehearsal at Russell’s studio in London with Michelle, Russell and the company dancers

Date / activity TBC

We hope to offer a Saturday workshop with one of our company dancers either on the 14th or 21st May (3 - 4 hours). This will depend on the number of students available to attend on a Saturday . I will confirm this nearer the time once I have an idea of numbers. Venue TBC 

May 16th - Online activity

Online class with Russell;
Students can stay on to ask questions

May 23rd - Online activities

Online class;
Students can stay on to ask questions;
Wrap up and final Q and A  with Michelle

Independent study tasks 

Students will be given the opportunity to watch films of some of Russells’ works and to reflect and (if required) create a written reflection for their institution.


Michelle Bynoe, RMDC Education Manager will support the students and liaise with their institutions throughout the process.

If completing all activities, the placement will take approximately 20 hours across the dates above.


Students within institutions/conservatoires should sign up via a staff lead from their institution.
