Professor Angela Pickard, PhD


 

Reader in Dance Education at Canterbury Christ Church University. 

Angela’s research in dance education and dance science brings together pedagogy, sociology, psychology and philosophy through her work in body studies. She has conducted research, using scientific and practice-based methods, in, for example, dance pedagogy, dancer training, widening participation, social practices, performance enhancement, choreographic methods, health and wellbeing, and perfectionism, with early years groups, primary, secondary, adolescent elite dancers, youth groups, further education, higher education, teachers, professional dancers, choreographers and the elderly. These include four national and two international projects.

Angela is Editor in Chief for the international journal Research in Dance Education. She teaches ballet, Dance pedagogy, Dance Research and Choreography. She also supervises PhD students', and this has included Russell Maliphant.
